Why ADHD Counselling?

Individual counselling offers support in facing the unique ADHD challenges that are present in your life. Frequently Asked Questions

Finding a therapist can sometimes feel like shopping for a pair of shoes. It can take some time to find the right pair that is a blend of comfort and style. Therapists can be the same way; we all have different personalities and self-expression within the therapeutic relationship. Thus, it can take some time to determine if a therapist is the right fit. The other challenge is that sometimes therapy can stir up uncomfortable feelings and push us to grow. This can cause us to question whether the therapist is right for us. If you do not feel like your therapist is a good fit for you, then feel free to talk with them about it. We are here to help you, but if the help we provide does not feel right, then we want to know.

Every therapeutic journey is unique and tailored to you individually. Some of the main benefits include: a safe and private environment to talk without fear of judgment, personalized support adapted to your needs, an increase in self-understanding, improved coping skills for managing emotions, stronger relationships, accountability and consistency in finding change.

Therapy is not perfect because therapists are humans too. However, there are some common downsides noted to occur in therapy: it can be uncomfortable to talk about painful memories or patterns of shame, it takes time and is not a quick fix, financial cost can be a barrier, it can be hard to find the right therapeutic fit, progress isn't always linear or visible, effort is required outside of sessions, there is a risk of dependency on the therapist, and not all therapeutic approaches are effective for everyone. Therapy is a tool; it works best when there’s a good fit, realistic expectations, and a willingness to engage in the process.

Individual counselling sessions cost $175 per 60-minute session.
